Since my kids started back to school recently the topic came up on how to shop wisely, and how to save money, especially with three children in school now.  My two oldest sons are old enough to handle some responsibility and I love to teach them about sales, and how to figure in percentages when finding clearance prices.

I also believe a big money saver for our family during back to school times is by participating in consignment sales.  I always enjoy selling clothing, toys, and other items that my children have outgrown, and consignment sales make that more simple and less of a hastle than other less desirable options. I not only make some extra cash, but I also love to shop consignment sales as well.  I have been able to purchase many name-brand, cute clothes for my kids at consignment sales.

I also enjoy shopping at area drug and office stores to catch the weekly specials that boast of free after rebate items, as well as many other great deals that can be put toward our list of school supplies.  I believe this can be a big money saver in and of itself.  I also love to frequently use coupons, which even saves additionally, and is a fun challenge as well.

Overall, I believe that teaching our children about saving money is an important matter that should be taught from a young age.  And with the way our economy is shaping up at the moment, then it's never too soon to start working towards saving a little money in any way possible!
